Gender social roles: A cross-cultural comparison

Social role beliefs are important to study as they shape individual’s pattern of thinking about their roles categorized gender-specific or egalitarian in society. The present investigated cross-cultural variations individualistic versus collectivist cultures well underlying dimensions the Roles Questionnaire using two independent samples students (N = 1111). From United Kingdom, 108 men (Mage 23.98, SD 7.66) and 247 women 22.40, 6.15) from Pakistan, 552 23.90, 3.27) 204 23.96, 5.43) were conveniently sampled. Cross-cultural scale by establishing measurement invariance through a series hierarchically nested confirmatory factor analyses models increasing levels cross-group equality constraints.
